John Tran, Senior Vice President and Group Manager of Commercial Lending at CommerceWest Bank, John brings over two decades of banking experience, a strategic vision, and a passion for making a difference in Southern California.

At CommerceWest Bank, he oversees the Commercial Lending group, a vital unit that focuses on new client relationships for small businesses and middle-market companies with revenues ranging from $5M to $100M across diverse industries. His leadership extends beyond setting strategic directions; John cultivates a high-caliber team, ensuring that every client receives tailored solutions to meet their commercial lending needs.

John’s journey in banking began in 2001 at Wells Fargo, where he honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of commercial banking. In 2021, he brought his wealth of experience to CommerceWest Bank, leading the Commercial Lending Group in acquiring new business loans for lines of credits, working capital, equipment and commercial real estate loans. Throughout his career, he has been a steadfast supporter of small to mid-sized businesses, providing them with the financial tools and guidance necessary for growth and success.

John is deeply engaged in community service. He serves as the Treasurer on the Executive Board of Directors and the Finance Chair of the Orange County Children’s Therapeutic Arts Center (OCCTAC), demonstrating his dedication to empowering youth through the arts. Also, John is an active member of the Vietnamese American Chamber Of Commerce and contributes his financial expertise to support the Finance Committee Team at Human Options, Inc., an organization committed to ending domestic violence.

In his spare time, John’s commitment to the community extends to various nonprofit and professional organizations in Orange County. He volunteers with the Orange County Food Bank, fosters business connections through the Asian Business Association of Orange County, and participates in the National Vietnamese Leaders Forum. Through these endeavors, John not only enriches the lives of others but also fosters a spirit of collaboration and support within the community.

Away from his professional and philanthropic endeavors, John finds solace in exploring history and experiencing different cultures. His passion for American and World history fuels his curiosity, while his travels around the globe, including recent trips to Thailand and Vietnam, provide him with invaluable insights into diverse perspectives and traditions.

As he continues to lead with integrity and compassion, John K. Tran remains an inspiration in the banking industry and the communities he serves.
